The ODC School invites guest artists to come teach Int/Adv classes in the Hot Spot on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Keep an eye out for whoís coming to the Dance!

Fun and fast-paced, Tanya's classes start with a yoga and technique-based vitamins warm-up before diving into phrase and locomotive work that emphasizes inversions, floor work, speed, release, athleticism, and technical prowess.

Named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" of 2019, Tanya Chianese is the Artistic Director of contemporary dance company ka∑nei∑see | collective. In the five years since the companyís inception, her choreography has received three awards, five residencies, thirteen festival invitations, five tours, and four commissions. In 2018 she was named by San Francisco magazine as "100 Artists Putting the East Bay on the Map," and was honored to be the guest speaker at San Francisco State Universityís 2017 Graduation Ceremony. In addition to her work as a choreographer, Tanya has performed professionally throughout the United States and parts of China as a freelance dancer. Locally she has taught at ODC/Dance, LINES Ballet, Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, Roco Dance, Berkeley Ballet Theater, San Francisco State University, Dance Mission Theater, City College of San Francisco, and more. She has worked as an administrator for Oklahoma City Ballet, San Francisco Trolley Dances and Dance Anywhere, and holds a BFA in Modern Dance and BA in Art History from the University of Oklahoma.
