The ODC School invites guest artists to come teach Int/Adv classes in the Hot Spot on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Keep an eye out for who’s coming to the Dance!

Class begins with a warm-up that includes guided improvisation based on rich imagery, sensations, and textures. It also includes short technical combinations to warm the body and mind, and finishes with a burst of cardio to shake loose any tension or worry. The second half of class is spent learning repertory from Fullstop Dance that is both physical and personal, challenging dancers to embody new movement and find their own personality within it. This class is geared towards intermediate, advanced, and professional dancers.

Kathryn Florez has been living in San Francisco since 2010. She studied at the SF Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan. Kathryn founded Fullstop Dance in late 2015 and has created and shown work at ODC Theater, Palace of Fine Arts, Dance Mission Theater, Cowell Theater, and others. This Fall she was commissioned by Vancouver-based TWObigsteps Collective to create a new work. Kathryn has worked professionally with Amy Seiwert, Robert Moses, Lindsey Renee Derry, and ZiRu Dance. She also works with David Herrera Performance Co and has been on staff as a ballet and contemporary teacher at CityDance Studios for the past four years.
